the weird spooky kpop aesthetic

i can't start to convey how much i love when kpop concepts go weird. i love spooky, nightmare/dream core aesthetics in general but no one does it like the creatives minds behind kpop.

so this is now an appreciation post to show you some of my favorite concepts thru the years.

but first, here's a collage i made in 2024, in honor of creepy kpop ! !!

to start with the queens of this concept themselves: f(x). back when they were still active they were my favorite thing in the whole world. i was just a sad teen back then and they truly made my life better in so many ways, i wish it didn't end the way it did but i will never forget them, they will always hold number 1 in my heart.

 

 

 

and, of course, the ones that took over: red velvet. my current favorite kpop group. 

 

 

 
 

also one of my favorites artists, bibi ! she often has weird and queer vibes in her comebacks but specially for her album lowlife princess, she had a very eerie, mad and scary aesthetic. i'm so sad her company is not big on teasers, i wish we had more photos of all her eras, she's one of the coolest people ever ! this is my favorite song of her (tw blood):

dreamcatcher is also a very cool group, with great vocals and fun dark concepts,

and i can't go without talking about gfriend, as soon as they got out of their cutie debut era, weird and spooky was their thing for sure,

 

their album song of the sirens is one of my personal favorites in terms of concept, crossroads my favorite song. although apple envisions the creepy concept better,

and just because it's one of the best music videos ever created, i have to mention birth by artms. they took weird to the next level with this one. everyone was sad when loona disbanded but if this is what came out f it, it was worth it:

public library, my beloved

ages 10 to 16 i lived at my local public library. that was my second home. it's tiny and old, as every other public space in tiny old cities tend to be. it probably hasn't updated their books since 2010. it grows only when people donate 3 books once every 10 years. but still: one of my favorite places on earth, i only have good memories there. it helped me discover so many worlds and it single-handedly got me into reading.  so you can imagine how happy i was when my little cousin (leader of the iPad kid generation) asked me to please take her there. we made a whole day out of it. it was so much fun and she loved looking around and touching every book. she is now an official member of the library ! !! a proper citizen.  imagine that ! a place full of books and social spaces for free. you can just go there and spend the whole day sitting around, reading, drawing, thinking, studying. for free !! you can even take books home with you ! for. free. we don't have enough save, comf...
