may re-cap (lizard, birds, flowers and rocks)
look at this big fat lizard, god i love him, it always makes me so happy to see one on my walks,
i live in the coast, kinda tiny city, wikipedia says 12,3 km² but i don't understand numbers like that, so it means nothing to me. what i do understand is that we share the space with the seagulls (gaviotas, if what to use their preferred name) and i love them. they're a little evil and a menace, like every other bird, but my friends nonetheless. i am scared of them but i will always be happy to share the beach, the sun and my potato chips with them.
the other day, one did me a solid.
i work at a cafe, we were closing, or trying. if you've ever worked at a cafe, you know people never let you close. picture this: the end of a very long shift, i am overstimulated and extremely tired and still have to clean everything, the whole place is a mess. we are 3 people, we could really use another 2 sets of hands, i am the one in charge so every decision goes thru me, there has been a kid screaming like a pig for 5 hours straight right next to me, another kid has broken the fence we have at the door, i had to tell my boss, sighs, she's not happy. we close at 21:00 but it's 21:30 and nobody is fucking leaving, my least favorite regular asks if he can get another coffee (decaf, no lactose, extremely hot) and tell him: no. he knows this, he knows we are closed, he tries everyday tho.
i hear a little scream outside, it was the annoying tourist that ordered a latte and pancakes at 20:55 even tho we told him we close at 21:00, i think: good riddance. i go check on him and i see a dead pigeon on top of one of my tables outside, right next to the tourist. i want to cry, i'm already not getting payed enough, this is crazy. i get a broom and the newspaper, push her out the table onto the street, i know as soon as i touch the dead pigeon, even thru the paper, i am gonna throw up, there's no way around it. i am bracing myself, and just when i'm about to do it, a giant seagull comes from the sky and eats the whole pigeon.
i've never loved nature more in my life, my coworkers and i still sing high praise to that seagull, she's like our god now.
anyways, a few days before that, a client gave me a whole pan and asked me to prepare 3 cafés con leche directly inside of it,
but going back to birds. do you remember the golondrinas from this post ?? to summarize, they were making a nest at my house, well they're done ! and the babies are grown ! !! and hungry,
...
(checks the tittle)
oh ! right ! flowers !! !
throwback thursday, remember the alien plant ? and how much it changed ? well this is her now:
it has a plastic like texture and it's no longer bright yellow and green, more like brown and dark green, but it's still huge, as you can barely see in that terribly lighted photo of me and my dog right next to it.
something really cool about walking thru the same forest for years is so see it change, i mean look at these cacti ! they grew flowers !! finally ! it really is almost summer yall,
i don't even like summer, but i'm happy for the summer critters and plants ! it's their time to shine !
and this:
it's my rock haul.
i got them when i went to the beach with my friend, she likes to sunbathe and i like to be in the water or collecting sea trinkets, so we really didn't spend that much time together, but that's the magic of friendship, parallel playing.
i think the red ones in my hand look kinda fleshy when you wet them, which is weird and a little creepy (i love them), and why you think is that seashells and rocks get those perfectly placed little holes if not for us to make charms ? ?? i really can't think of any other explanation.

omg THIRTY minutes after closing people are still asking you for things?? Seems like the cafe really needs to implement some sort of policy for getting people the hell outta there! Jeez! I would snap I just know it. I would go madness mode.
ReplyDeleteDo love the big lizard though, beautiful creature. I have never come across a lizard that large in the wild, but there's a marshy place I've been to in Scotland where lots of little lizards climb up onto the boardwalk. They're so cute :-)
fully closed doors and close sign out, people still get in and ask for coffee hahaha, this job has taught me there's way more dumb and rude people than i thought, you can't even imagine the amount of times a day i have to answer the question "does the chocolate croissant have chocolate in it?", some days i am surprised at myself for not going madness mode, but i'm a very chill dude, it's hard to make me emote, which has been a bad thing for most my life, but it's great now for my job :D
Deletetiny lizards are the best !!!! there's a few living at my house and they eat all the mosquitos !
I didn't know what to expect with the pigeon story and I was still surprised
