vibe check (should i start a pokemon card collection ?)

 i've been wanting to collect pokemon cards for a while now, here's what's stopping me: 

1. i live in a small town where a pokemon card event has never ever happened (and it probably never will), so i would either: have to pull the cards i want (very expensive) or just get them online (not as fun as finding them organically). 
2. i don't see real value on the cards, and i think it's stupid to pay more than 3€ for a mass produced piece of paper no matter how unique, shiny or rare it is. 

when i was a kid i used to collect the transparent pokemon cards, do you remember them ? i had soooo many, i basically had the whole collection on a binder, and then enough repeats to make several playing decks. i had so much fun ! ! opening packs, playing, trading, filling the binder, looking thru the pages. the whole experience was great.

i recently finished my red velvet album collection, it's complete until they drop something new ! and i've been missing the joy of collecting something. looking for the items, trying to get them at a good price, getting them, adding them to the collection, admiring how it gets more and more complete with time. it's just so much fun. 

of course i understand, part of the fun in collecting pokemon is the community, which i don't think i will find here, but i think i can have fun on my own, the joy i get from organizing and decorating a binder + just the simple happiness i get from collecting stuff, might be enough to make me have lots of fun. 

so this is a like vibe check, should i ? 

before you make a decision, let me tell what would i collect. i have several options,

• ☆ morgrem. i don't think i have to tell you why i love that little guy so much. look at him ! !!! a pink weird looking goblin ? ?? ?? yes please. CONS: i don't know much about pokemon cards, but i'm pretty sure morgrem has like 5 cards in the whole deck, which would make for a very boring, very quick collection. 

 

•  ☆ bulbasaur. he is my favorite pokemon since i'm a literal baby, i love all the evolutions, they're just the coolest, pokemon peaked with their design. CONS: way too many cards to collect, i don't know if i have the energy to look them all up, choose my favorites, look for them, pay the crazy prices... i'm tired just thinking about it. 

 

•  ☆ lizards  (not dragons) , reptiles (yes salamanders and turtles) and frogs adjacent. all the little weird guys ! starting with treecko (one of my all time favorites). good thing is i could include bulbasaur in here, and have like a couple of pages dedicated to them, instead of a whole binder, which makes it less overwhelming. this collection would also make it easier to pull some cards myself, since i'm bound to find at least one lizard every couple of packs. CONS: morgrem is not a lizard. i really really really want to collect them. 

 

• ☆ MONKEYS !! !! i love monkeys. thwackey and chimchar are my favs. could i convince you morgrem should be allow in the monkey collection ? much to think about.

 

maybe a tiny binder for morgrem and a big one for the lizards ? what about the monkeys tho, i feel bad letting them out. should i just make a cutie binder and put anything i want in it ? sighs, but that could get out of my hands real quick, so many pokemons are cute.... where would i draw the line ? ?? ?

help.
