the early riser
it's called el madrugador (meaning, the early-riser), we don't go there as much because it's not my favorite. the entrance is full of construction, they're making houses nobody can afford in what use to be the other half of the forest, and it makes me sad. plus it's owned land, which means is full of fences to stop people form crossing, so to get in you have to find a big stick and place it strategically over the spikes so you (and your pup) can jump safely over it. some people walk in there so if you're lucky, the stick could be already there !
it's not all bad tho, because there's a couple of small local farms around it, you get to see horses, donkeys, cows, cats, chickens and ducks walking around, they're really cute. also, and this this the main reason why we come here in the summer, there's no body of water, so there's no mosquitos trying to eat my dog's face ! we hate mosquitos so much ! !!!!
another little detail i don't quite enjoy, once i get over the second fence, the whole place is crazy huge, full of trees that looks exactly the same, no trail. i always get lost, after that fence i have to trust completely my dog will lead me to the third fence and then the exit. he's never ever failed me before, but it is a bit spooky to be lost at such a big place. i only go in the mornings, because i'm super scared of getting really lost at night.
the place doesn't help either, there's no noise, expect for the birds (mostly crows and crow-adjacents), and it has these eerie little things, like fallen trees, bones, weird fungi, and holes that looks like will take you to another realm. it may look cute at 9am, but not so much at 9pm.

(where do you think this leads to) |
also when you get closer to the last fence to the path that will take you to the exit, there's this trail....
the perfectly lined trees, with the half bottom painted white, and the perfectly made road that seems to go on forever, right in the middle of a forest with no trails at all, it's so spooky to me. i know it was human-made, but it makes me wonder, what if a creature that wants me to go down there to trap me did it instead ? ? because if there's evil fairies somewhere, it's in here.
imagine, you're lost (like me) in this big scary place, walking around thru what it looks like the same group of trees over and over and over again, it's been 10, maybe 20 minutes, you're starting to get nervous, you're never gonna find the exit, then finally ! a path you can easily follow ! where does it go to tho ? and it's not the exit, i can tell you that much, because my dog is taking me there, and he never stops here. it's so perfect, it looks suspicious.
there's also right at the begging of it some sort of fully fenced old property, it's not a house, more like storage, and there's a guard dog in there that barks at you like crazy when you get close, but when you leave, completely out of his sight, you can see him, veeeeery far away, very tiny, still barking, looking straight to the path. maybe he can still smell you, maybe he can't stop barking now that he's started, or maybe he wasn't barking at you at all. is he warning people not to walk in there, is he barking at something we can't see ? ??
can you tell how badly i want fairy tales to be real ? i loooove walking around the forest thinking all these spooky thoughts, it made me so happy as a kid, and it still does !
anyway, these were our outfits of the day.... if that won't get us kidnapped by a pretty fae, i don't know what will.
no scary creatures have ever been found, just friendly critters and birds.
