rating more movies !
i'm not a movie guy, i would say is my least favorite type of way to present a story, but i still watch at least a few every other month, these are the ones i watched june-july (so far) and how i liked them:
VOICEMAILS FOR ISABELLE (2026): ☆☆☆
you already know i'm always looking for a good romcom, and this time i found it ! it was cute, funny, and i even cried a little !! i just love love so much y'all, specially in its peak form: best friends ! of course the romance was nice too, but most of those stars are for the sisters, the friendships, and the slice of life little moments that make the movie so much more beautiful, that if it was just about romance. also, «sometimes life rigs things in our favor», is such a nice quote, i really like the idea of luck and the universe wanting something for you, and that summarizes that feeling in a very cute easy way.
it was fun, silly and very kidcore, i understand now why my little cousin loved is so much back when it came out. i think it was a good movie, very solid. i laughed in a few scenes, i really enjoyed the absurd humor and how they leaned on the videogame/cartoon physics. it was disappointing how they got rid of the women for most the movie tho. i don't think the movie was for me, i gave it 2 stars because it entertained me.
it was nice promo for the game, i've never played before but the movie almost made me want to try it.
GOD'S OWN COUNTRY (2017): ☆☆
very european, so you know, extremely focused on little details, slow paced, very silent and flaccid penises on full display. slice of life on its purest form: watching a small piece of someone's life with no context, they don't tell you what happened before and you will never know what happens after. it was cute, gay, and a little bit sad. i get it ! !! i would also fall desperately in love with a pretty dude with big brown eyes, long lashes, a comfy sweater, and a nice accent holding a baby sheep he just brought back to life.
it was good but it's also mostly angst, even if it had a happy ending, not my type. that's why i only gave it 2 stars.
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON (2010): ☆☆☆ (2014): ☆☆☆
i watched the first one when it came out in cinemas but i never got to watch part 2. i don't know why i suddenly felt like watching it, so i also re-watched the first one to refresh my memory. both of them were good, i liked them a lot. it's honestly very weird for dreamworks to disappoint, they often put out the best animation movies. it's funny tho how kid's movies keep using these themes of being different, hiding your true self out of fear, having to come out to your parents, being scared they will never accept you, celebrating differences, but then it's never actually gay lmao
apparently there's third one too, and a live-action, but i think i've had enough.
